Multi-Coloured Tapioca Pearls Description:

Multi-coloured tapioca pearls are small, round starch balls made primarily from tapioca starch (derived from cassava root), and dyed in a variety of bright colours such as pink, green, yellow, white, and purple. Typically 2–3mm in diameter, these pearls are opaque when dry and become translucent and chewy when cooked, with their colours softening to pastel-like shades.

Popular in Southeast Asian and tropical desserts, they are often used to add a fun, colourful twist to sweet soups (ginataan), puddings, and coconut milk-based treats. While they have little to no natural flavour, their appeal lies in their eye-catching appearance and pleasantly chewy texture, which absorbs the flavours of the surrounding ingredients.

Multi-coloured tapioca pearls are typically gluten-free and vegan, composed mostly of carbohydrates. They are boiled until fully translucent, then rinsed in cold water or added directly to desserts. Their vibrant appearance makes them a favourite in both traditional and modern dessert presentations.
